Mykonos MyEgo vs Stilettos: Clean Grape or Dark Berries? - Mykonos

Quick answer: Mykonos MyEgo and Mykonos Stilettos are both fruity scents for autumn and winter, tagged for daily wear, evenings and special occasions, and both carry jasmine, amber, musk and vanilla. MyEgo is clean and sharp: muscat grapes, bergamot and aldehydes over transparent wood and Iso E Super. Stilettos is darker and jammier: blackberry and sour cherry with violet, then cashmere wood and patchouli. On paper MyEgo also projects further and lasts longer.

Mykonos MyEgo vs Stilettos puts two fruity scents with the same season and the same occasion tags side by side, and shows how differently fruit can be used. MyEgo is the Mykonos collaboration with AlterEgo, an extrait built to feel clean and modern. Stilettos is an eau de parfum with dark berries and a warm, woody base. We stock both, so this is about fit rather than favourites, and a note list is only a guide to how a scent wears on your skin.

What they have in common

Both belong to the Mykonos fruity family, both are listed for autumn and winter, and both carry the same three occasion tags: daily wear, evenings and special occasions.

Four notes appear in both. Jasmine is in both hearts. Amber is in MyEgo's heart and in Stilettos' base. Musk and vanilla are in both bases. Each also puts a citrus note beside its fruit at the top: bergamot in MyEgo, mandarin orange in Stilettos.

They start from different places. MyEgo is an original Mykonos creation, made with AlterEgo. Mykonos Stilettos is inspired by Burberry Her, as its product page states. Our explainer on what "inspired by" means on a perfume covers how to read both kinds of label.

The opening

MyEgo opens with muscat grapes, pink pepper, bergamot and aldehydes. The grapes are pale and juicy, and the aldehydes give it the clean sparkle that its character line refers to. Stilettos opens with blackberry, sour cherry and mandarin orange: darker, tarter and more jammy.

The heart

MyEgo sets jasmine beside geranium and warm amber, a heart that is floral without being sugary. Stilettos pairs jasmine with violet, which softens the berries and adds a powdery touch.

The drydown

Both end on musk and vanilla, but the materials around them differ. MyEgo adds transparent wood and Iso E Super, which keep the base airy; Mykonos describes a sharp, modern trail. Stilettos adds cashmere wood, amber and patchouli for a warmer, cosier finish.

Where they differ

  • Fruit. Pale muscat grapes against blackberry and sour cherry. Our berry perfume guide goes deeper into the second style.
  • Clean or warm. Aldehydes, transparent wood and Iso E Super make MyEgo clean; cashmere wood and patchouli make Stilettos warm. For more scents in MyEgo's direction, see perfume that smells clean.
  • Presence. The ratings cross over. Stilettos has the strong intensity tag, but the handbook gives MyEgo strong sillage, strong projection and 12+ hours, against moderate sillage, moderate projection and 7+ hours for Stilettos. We read that as Stilettos feeling dense up close while MyEgo reaches further.
  • Concentration and sizes. MyEgo is an extrait in 50 ml and 100 ml; Stilettos is an eau de parfum in 50 ml.
  • Audience. MyEgo is unisex; Stilettos is listed for her and labelled feminine.

Wearing MyEgo and Stilettos

With strong sillage and projection, MyEgo needs one or two sprays; resist the urge to add more an hour later. Stilettos, an eau de parfum with moderate sillage, takes two or three sprays on the neck and wrists. MyEgo comes in 50 ml and 100 ml, Stilettos in 50 ml; a 50 ml bottle holds roughly 500 sprays. Our guide to sillage and projection explains the ratings above.

MyEgo sits in our collaborations collection next to the other Mykonos partner scents; for more like either, browse the fruity collection.
