Quick answer: Mykonos Daydream is a new unisex extrait de parfum with a clean, aldehydic, citrusy and fruity character. Aldehydes and orange blossom open it, peach, rose and violet form the heart, and vanilla, sandalwood and white musk make up the base. It comes in a 100 ml bottle at €49.99 and is listed as coming soon.
This is a first look at the Mykonos Daydream notes, not a wear test. Daydream cannot be ordered yet, nobody on our team has worn it for a full day, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can do is read the note pyramid carefully, explain what each layer usually does in a perfume, and place Daydream next to the Mykonos scents you may already know. We are an authorized Mykonos retailer for Europe, and every note below comes from the product data in our store.
What is Mykonos Daydream?
Mykonos Daydream is one of the new Mykonos releases: a unisex extrait de parfum in a 100 ml bottle. Its character in four words is clean, aldehydic, citrusy and fruity. In our store it sits in the floral, fruity and musky families, which already tells you it is not a one-idea scent: there is a bright, soapy-clean top, a soft fruit-and-flower middle and a creamy base.
Mykonos Daydream notes: the full pyramid
- Top: aldehydes, orange blossom
- Heart: peach, rose, violet
- Base: vanilla, sandalwood, white musk
Eight notes in three layers. That is a short, readable pyramid, and it makes it fairly easy to say what kind of perfume this is meant to be.
What the notes tell us
Top: aldehydes and orange blossom
Aldehydes are the material behind the "clean" effect in many perfumes: sparkling, airy, a little soapy, like fresh laundry or cold air. They do not smell of a fruit or a flower; they add lift and brightness to whatever sits next to them. Here that is orange blossom, a white flower with a citrusy, slightly honeyed side. Together they explain why Daydream is described as both clean and citrusy even though the pyramid lists no lemon or bergamot.
Heart: peach, rose and violet
The heart is where the fruity part comes from. Peach gives a soft, velvety fruit note, rose adds a classic floral centre and violet brings a powdery, slightly cool touch. On paper this is a gentle heart rather than a loud one: fruit and flowers in equal measure, kept light by the aldehydes above them.
Base: vanilla, sandalwood and white musk
The base is built for comfort. Vanilla rounds off the fruit, sandalwood gives a creamy wood note and white musk carries the clean theme through to the end. If you like the idea of a perfume that starts fresh and finishes soft and skin-like, this is the layer that should deliver it.
Who Mykonos Daydream is likely to suit
Daydream is listed as unisex. Going by the notes, it is aimed at people who:
- like clean, "just showered" perfumes but want more than plain musk;
- enjoy soft fruit such as peach without a sugary, dessert-like sweetness;
- want something polished and easy for daytime, the office or a relaxed evening.
If you prefer dark, spicy or smoky scents, this is probably not your release; Mykonos Monaco Royale Black, which arrives alongside it, goes in that direction. For more on the clean style in general, see our guide to perfume that smells clean.
How Daydream relates to other Mykonos scents
Aldehydes already appear in a few Mykonos perfumes, and comparing the pyramids shows where Daydream fits.
- Mykonos Untamed also opens with aldehydes and has violet in its heart, but pairs them with a crisp linen accord, praline and a coconut soap accord. Untamed is the creamier, more gourmand kind of clean; Daydream swaps the praline for peach and rose.
- Mykonos Penthouse combines aldehydes with blackcurrant, a white soap accord and clean musks. It is the most soapy of the three. Daydream reads as more floral and fruity.
- Mykonos Enchanted shares the peach, rose and violet heart, set between mandarin orange on top and iris and musk below, and it is listed for her. Daydream adds the aldehydic lift and a vanilla and sandalwood base, and is unisex.
So Daydream sits between the clean scents and the fruity florals in the range, which is new territory for Mykonos. We compare more clean options in Untamed vs Penthouse.
What is Mykonos Daydream inspired by?
The product page lists Mykonos Daydream as inspired by Acne Studios par Frédéric Malle. That line names the direction the composition took, so that you have a reference when you cannot smell a bottle through a screen. It does not mean the two smell alike on your skin, and Mykonos is not affiliated with the house named. We explain the term in what "inspired by" means on a perfume.
What we do not know yet
Mykonos has not published longevity, sillage or projection ratings for Daydream that we can pass on, and we will not guess at hours. The same goes for how it behaves in heat or cold: the notes suggest an easy, mild-weather scent, but that is a reading of the pyramid, not experience. That part can only be written after wearing it.
