Quick answer: Mykonos Enchanted smells like a fresh bouquet of rose and peony with a soft, powdery finish. It has one top note, mandarin orange; a heart of peony, rose, violet and peach; and a base of iris and musk. There is no vanilla, amber or wood in the pyramid, so it stays floral and clean from start to finish.
Seven notes, and that is the whole pyramid. The Mykonos Enchanted notes make one of the shortest lists in our range, and the only one with a single top note. That makes the scent easy to read, but it leaves questions too: what does Enchanted smell like once the mandarin has gone, and is it a rose perfume, a powdery one or a fruity one? This guide goes through the seven notes one by one. We are an authorized Mykonos retailer for Europe; the notes and ratings come from the brand's product data and handbook.
The Mykonos Enchanted notes at a glance
| Layer | Notes | What they bring |
|---|---|---|
| Top | Mandarin orange | A sweet, sparkling citrus opening |
| Heart | Peony, rose, violet, peach | A dewy bouquet with a soft fruit sweetness |
| Base | Iris, musk | A powdery, clean-skin finish |
Enchanted is an extrait de parfum in our For Her collection. Mykonos gives its main accord as floral, fresh and musky, and our store lists it under both citrus and floral.
One top note: what mandarin orange does
Most pyramids open with three or four notes. Enchanted has one. Mandarin is the gentlest of the citrus notes: sweeter and juicier than lemon, less bitter than grapefruit. Mykonos compares the effect to warm sunlight on your face. Its job is to make the first minutes sparkle and then step aside, and because top notes fade first, the flowers arrive early.
The heart notes: is Enchanted a rose perfume?
Rose and peony
Rose and peony are the centre of Enchanted; the brand pictures them as dewy bouquets in a meadow. Rose can be dark and jammy or light and fresh, and next to peony it is the fresh kind. Peony is an airy, slightly watery floral with a rosy tone and very little weight. Together they smell like freshly cut flowers, not rose jam. Rose is one of four heart notes here, so think of a bouquet with rose in it, not a solo rose. Our comparison of rose and floral fragrances shows how far apart rose scents can be.
Violet
Violet brings a sweet, powdery tone, the note behind old-fashioned violet sweets. In a bouquet it adds softness and a touch of nostalgia. Our guide to violet perfume explains its sweet, powdery and green sides.
Peach
Peach is the only fruit in the heart. It is soft and velvety, closer to the skin of the fruit than to syrup, and gives the flowers a gentle sweetness without turning the scent fruity.
The base notes: why iris and musk feel powdery
Iris
Iris is one of perfumery's cool notes: powdery, smooth and faintly earthy, often compared to face powder or lipstick. It picks up where the violet leaves off and makes the drydown elegant instead of sweet. There is more on the note in our iris perfume guide.
Musk
Musk is the soft, clean, skin-like note that many perfumes rest on. Here it is half of the base, so it matters more than usual: it gives the finish a just-washed feel and is the "musky" in the accord. If you are unsure what the note actually is, read what does musk smell like.
What the pyramid leaves out
Just as telling is what is missing: no vanilla, no amber, no patchouli, no wood. Many florals lean on those for warmth. Enchanted does not, which is why it reads as fresh.
What does Mykonos Enchanted smell like on skin?
With one top note and two base notes, Enchanted moves in a straight line. A bright flash of mandarin first; then the bouquet of peony and rose with violet and peach behind it, the part most people will think of as Enchanted; then a quiet finish of iris and musk, close and powdery. Mykonos calls the scent soft, charming and confident: a princess with a statement, in the brand's words.
It is listed for autumn and winter, for evenings and special occasions, and our store marks its intensity as strong. A fresh floral with presence, in other words: more dinner and celebration than desk. If the occasion is a wedding, our wedding perfume guide covers choosing a scent for the bride, the groom and guests.
Mykonos scents that share Enchanted's notes
- Rose and violet, creamier: Mykonos Royal Ispahan has violet and rose milk in the heart, raspberry and lychee on top and vanilla and amber underneath. See Royal Ispahan vs Enchanted.
- Rose, violet and iris with citrus: Mykonos California Club puts those three in its heart, under bergamot and lemon, and ends on sandalwood and amberwood.
- Violet, rose and musk alone: Mykonos Baby Love is built from just those three notes, repeated across its layers: the powdery, musky side of Enchanted on its own.
