Mykonos Inception: the crisp citrus half
Inception is an extrait de parfum in the citrus family, with a citrus, aromatic and woody accord. It opens with bergamot, ginger, orange and lemon. The heart is where its character comes from: neroli, cinnamon, black tea and biga flower, a mix of blossom, spice and tea. The base is guaiac wood, musk, cedarwood and Lorenox™, a dry, woody finish.

Mykonos Nautilus: the deeper, sunnier half
Nautilus is an extrait in the citrus and fruity families, with a fruity, floral and woody accord. Pear leads the opening alongside bergamot, ginger and mandarin orange, and returns in the heart with orange blossom and jasmine. The base is the richest part of the pair: amber, musk, vanilla, guaiac wood and ambroxan.

Mykonos layering: what Deep Blue smells like
Mykonos lists six notes for the layered result: bergamot, pear, lemon, black tea, ginger and vanilla. In plain terms, that is a bright citrus opening with a juicy edge of pear, a cool, slightly dry line of black tea through the middle, and a soft vanilla warmth underneath.
You can see on paper why the pair works. Both perfumes open with bergamot and ginger, so the first minutes blend rather than clash, and both finish on guaiac wood and musk, which gives the drydown one shared backbone. Each also brings what the other lacks. Inception adds lemon and black tea, which cut through the sweetness of pear and vanilla. Nautilus adds fruit and a rounder amber base, which gives Inception's dry woods more body.

How to layer them
This is our routine for Deep Blue, based on how the two perfumes are built:
- Nautilus first, one spray. It is rated strong and has the heavier base, so it goes underneath. One spray on the chest is enough.
- Give it a minute. Let it dry, and do not rub.
- Inception on top, one or two sprays. One at the base of the throat or the side of the neck, and a second on the other side if you want the citrus and tea to lead.

When to wear Deep Blue
Both perfumes carry summer tags, and Deep Blue belongs to warm weather: holidays, long days outside and summer evenings when you want something fresh that still has some depth. For an evening out, the full three sprays suit it well.
Inception is tagged for work as well as daily and evening wear, but Nautilus is rated strong, so at the office we would keep it to one spray of each, with Nautilus on the chest. Inception is also tagged for spring, so on a mild spring day you can tilt the ratio towards it: two sprays of Inception over one light spray of Nautilus. Our suggestion: a cooler, drier Deep Blue
Swap Nautilus for Mykonos Reflection, a unisex citrus with grapefruit, ginger and bergamot over marine notes, cardamom and lily of the valley, with musk, patchouli, amber and ambroxan in the base. You lose the pear and vanilla and gain real marine notes, so the result is cooler and more transparent. Our suggestion: a softer, sweeter Deep Blue
Keep Nautilus and swap Inception for Mykonos Monaco Royale, which also opens on pear, with melon and green notes, then soft wood and cedarwood, and a base of moss, caramel and musk. One spray of it under one spray of Nautilus turns Deep Blue's cool edge into something rounder and sweeter, better suited to an evening.
