Mykonos Empire (Imperium): the tropical citrus half
Empire is a collaboration between Mykonos and RRQ, an extrait de parfum in the citrus family with a citrus, tropical and woody accord. It opens with lime, bergamot, mandarin orange and tropical fruits. The heart is Sicilian orange, ginger, jasmine and coconut water, and the base patchouli, white musk and tonka bean.

Mykonos Monaco Royale: the sweet, woody half
Monaco Royale is a unisex extrait in the fruity and musky families, with a fruity, woody and vanilla accord. It opens with pear, melon and green notes; the heart is soft wood and cedarwood; the base moss, caramel and musk. Mykonos pictures it as a romantic night on the French Riviera, fresh and breezy at first, deeper and more sensual as it settles.
It is moderate in intensity, with strong sillage, strong projection and a longevity of 12+ hours, tagged for spring and summer and for daily, evening and work wear. It comes in 50 ml and 100 ml. Mykonos layering: what Golden Sunset smells like
The official result notes are bergamot, mandarin orange, pear, coconut water, cedarwood and caramel. From Empire come the bergamot, mandarin and coconut water: bright, tangy citrus with a cool tropical note. From Monaco Royale come the pear, cedarwood and caramel: juicy fruit, a clean woody middle and a sweet finish.
These two share very little on paper; musk, white musk in Empire, is the only note in both. That is what makes the pairing interesting: it works through contrast rather than echo. What bridges them is structure. Empire's tropical fruits sit naturally beside the pear and melon of Monaco Royale, and Empire's tonka bean and Monaco Royale's caramel are both sweet, warm base notes that blend without competing. The result is sweeter and rounder than Empire alone, and brighter and more citrus-led than Monaco Royale alone.

How to layer them
- Monaco Royale first, one spray. Its base of caramel, moss and musk is the heavier foundation. Spray it on the chest or at the base of the throat.
- Let it settle for a minute. Do not rub.
- Empire on top, one spray, at the side of the neck, so the lime, bergamot and coconut water lead.

Our suggestion: a fresher, fruitier sunset
Swap Monaco Royale for Nautilus, which also has pear, shares bergamot, mandarin orange, ginger, jasmine and musk with Empire, and adds orange blossom, then amber, vanilla, guaiac wood and ambroxan in the base. The result keeps the sunset's warmth but trades caramel for vanilla and amber. Nautilus is rated strong, so one spray underneath and Empire on top. Nautilus is also half of the official Deep Blue combo.
Our suggestion: a saltier, more coastal sunset
Keep Monaco Royale and swap Empire for Mykonos California Blue, which shares pear, soft wood, moss and caramel with Monaco Royale, and adds lavender, grapefruit, pink salt, rhubarb, water blossoms and marine notes. One spray of Monaco Royale first and one of California Blue on top gives a sea-air version of the combo, less tropical and more coastal.
